Chubb Pond
Trip out to Chubb Pond for the super moon, my first time.. Very nice campsite before LT #2, right on the water, and many Loons playing Silly games Lean to #2 well kept , did have a grill for to put pans on over firepit, wonderful spot at not a long hike or drive for me . Everyone should put this one on there TO DO list...

Any other suggestions for short drive/hikes???

PS BFs are out enough so long pants/shirts and headnets where needed during most warm daylight hours...

Any signs of ATV use in the area? They used to go right down to the water at Chubb and dig up the beach there.

Nope, just footprints...was kinda confusing with red,blue, yellow, white markers all on the same trail...

The only time I ever did a trip in this area there were several ATV's ripping up the trail and the trails showed clear signs that this was a regular thing. While staying at the lean-to at Sand Lake Falls several ATV's came through. Very loud and unpleasant.

I was at SLF 20+ years ago and it was a very pleasant experience. Very little traffic thru there. I heard from one member of the Tramp & Trails Club from Utica (do I have the name right? They have gone on every scheduled trip rain or shine!) that ATV's have ripped up the trail to SLF. Sad. I'll remember the way it used to be.

the path to the lean to had a gate, trying to keep them out, yet ther was a jeep trail that i dont know where it leads without looking on map... did see one atv guy/girl headed fishing...where IDK
