The Irish House Inn at Loon Lake (Franklin County)

Hi ADK'ers,

We have a really amazing Mansion in Loon Lake in which we will be renting out 5 rooms on a weekly basis, 2 people per room is firm and max capacity is 10 which is also firm, shorter stays available with a 3 day minimum. We are currently cleaning up the house and property so will have better pictures soon. It truly is an amazing place with rich history. Our landlord, Loon Gulf Inc. owns a large portion of land that surrounds the lake (including the bottom of the lake so I'm told.) We have access to THOUSANDS OF ACRES for hiking, biking, fishing in Loon Lake and the Saranac River, mountains to climb from easy to difficult and everything outdoors. RIGHT OUT THE FRONT DOOR, sorry for yelling. Some help is needed to groom and mark trails and lodging will be free to any individuals who can help. Our contact info is at the listing below, call or email us. We open June 30th.

Here is the link,

There are 5 bedrooms and 5 baths in this beautiful turn of the century mansion. Rooms are available individually and the rest of the house is shared. The Irish House is an Inn not a B&B. There is a large shared kitchen, multiple grills and many places to enjoy your meals privately. In addition, there is a large dining room table for sit down family style meals. The Irish House sits on 6 acres and has approximately 800 feet of waterfront on pristine Loon Lake. There are no pictures that can do this amazing mansion justice. The wood work is beautiful, there are all original doors, hardware, bathroom fixtures, claw foot tubs, windows, massive hideaway doors and wood floors. The bedrooms are large each having more than ample closet space. There are multiple common rooms, including the massive Great Room with the grand fireplace. There is a sitting room between the great room and the large kitchen. The 3rd floor has 2 common living rooms and 2 studio spaces, one for art and one for music. The wrap-a-round porch has a large screened in area with a ceiling fan. The front porch offers even more room to sit and enjoy the scenery. There is a short walk (about 600 feet) to get to the waterfront area with over 800 feet of frontage and a place to launch the boats. We have canoes, kayaks and rowboats available on site for you to use. We do not allow motorized boats or jet skis. There is a patio area with Adirondack chairs, picnic tables, fire pit and grills. There is Adirondack furniture throughout mixed in with beautiful antiques. We have an amazing taxidermy collection which includes a large Moose mount, white tail deer, a bear skin rug, a few LARGE -mouth Bass, squirrel and a crazy looking raccoon.

There is so much that can be done right outside the doors! The golf course is a great place to take a stroll. We are located centrally in the hamlet of Loon Lake which is a quiet community. Fishing is excellent in Loon Lake; you will catch many small mouth bass, northern pike, perch (good eatin') and a few elusive Largemouth bass. You can walk or drive a couple of miles to the north branch of the Saranac River for trout fishing. There are many thousands of miles of hiking and biking trails right outside the door and we are in a great location for day hikes to some of the ADK high peaks and even some not so high peaks. Crusher Mountain is at the north end of the lake, it is a very short hike to the top and there is a great view. If you are a little more adventurous then you can hike Loon Lake Mountains and see the fire tower which is about a 6 mile round trip. We also encourage writers and artists to bask in virtual solitude, in a really peaceful place. The scenery is inspiring, as is the crisp, clean air. You can't help but feel your artistic juices start to flow once you get here. We will offer as much privacy as you might like to create your masterpieces.

We have 2 massive picnic tables in the yard for BBQ's and to just sit around with friends and family. The yard is large enough to spread out and play games like bocce ball, croquet and horse shoes which are all provided. Take a day trip to Saranac Lake, Lake Placid, Tupper Lake (the Wild Center) or even Montreal. There are some great restaurants in town, lots of cool shops and many tourist attractions. Maybe take a trip back in time and ride the rails on the ADK Railroad. The Wild Center is a nature museum which is fun for the whole family and is located about 35 minutes away. Even closer is the Paul Smith's Visitors Interpretive Center which is a great place to see wildlife in nature and learn about the local ecology. I could write for days about all of the things you can do while staying at the Irish House, but instead I will leave a little to your imagination. One thing that is for certain, you will enjoy your stay at the Irish House! So we look forward to hearing from you...
