Fishing 4-13-12

Managed a 14" brookie today. Lots of other hits but couldn't hook up. Decent hatch coming off. A friend of mine landed three smaller fish. Another slow outing but great to be out and better than getting skunked. Pics coming soon.

Nice to see that you had some luck today GG. Here is a pic of one i landed this mourning. I think he was about 14" or so. He put up a nice fight before i released him.

I fished a pond today too. Caught a few brookies. The bigger ones really ripped some line off, what a blast! I can definitely get into this pond fishing thing. Water never got to 45 degrees. A bit chilly in the float tube. Heavy midge hatch.

Ghost: Lets see those pics!! What kind of hatch did you see? I hope to get out Tue to a pond and try my luck. Am chomping at the bit.

71: Nice brookie you caught there. Gotta love the coloration of Brook trout--they're beautiful even when not is spawning colors. What did you catch it on? Grey Ghost per chance.

Frank: Your post came in while I was writing mine! Some nice fish there. Hope I can get some of those on Tuesday. Glad to hear the water temps are still cold. Weather this week will probably bring them up quite a bit though.

Yes GG i was fishing out of my Blackjack. Caught a few that size yesterday. EC i caught all my fish on a cone head muddlers few different sizes 6-10. The conditions were perfect. The weather is going to be in the upper 70 to low 80 this week that might bring them down

One more.

I have to leave in an hour and get on a plane to Brazil so no fish pictures this week. And Frank, I froze vital parts of my anatomy sitting in that float tube as well.

What do you guys recommend for a float tube? VT, you know the kind of locations i hit. Thanks.

Really nice photos guys!!...keep `em coming in...wished I went to a pond today also, weather was incredible...but took a hike w/ the wife instead, who has been begging me to do a hike on Tongue Mtn...did Deer Leap, nice short hike with nice views of L. George and its islands and Black Mtn . across the way..

All those brookies look very plump and healthy...would be great eaters...oh, and VT..sorry to hear of your frost frozen extremities..LOL!!But, perseverance always pays off...

Maybe so, Eagle, but then how would I simultaneously navigate and cast to structure? I guess the great debate goes on.

I am stuck right now in DC on my trip. Could have spent a day on the ponds

Geez, I guess I missed the memo that the fish were biting last week. Glad to see fishing coming on flies. All reports that I've heard are that the fishing has been slow. I think I'm going to bide my time some more before ponding it.
