On the other hand, with a rig like this (Knupac & Hornbeck w/ rigid mount), you can portage indefinite distances. On the day this photo was taken I portaged 15 miles after an 11 mile paddle, then portaged another dozen the next day... continuing 185 miles northeasterly through the Adirondacks to arrive across Cumberland Bay beyond Plattsburgh on day 7.
