No black flies in the St. Regis Canoe Area over the weekend, but plenty of deer flies and mosquitoes. Of course that can all change over night.

Yeah, I figured as much. As long as I can get through the Little Clear -> St. Regis portage I'll be fine. Not even gonna consider going towards Ochre/Fish Pond area right now in my condition.

So many of these terms seem to be used interchangeably at random.

There are many "ponds" bigger than "lakes" in the adirondacks, and brooks, creeks, and rivers aren't always what you'd expect...
