Putting a strap on a regular cooler won't stop a 300lb bear from crushing the lid and getting the food. I still do it though, mostly for racoon. Them crafty little guys can open a regular cooler!...

The camera on goodnow Mt is still showing some ice on that small lake about 5 miles west of long lake. (Rich lake) Hard to tell with the mist if it's 50% open water or just water on half the ice...
