  • Lake Lila Cell reception?

Is there any? If so, where, what service? We are thinking about heading out a day early to scout campsites but need a way to communicate with our non retired companions and have no radios. Suspect this is a long shot.
    Thanks,
    YS

Didn't used to be but this could have changed in recent years. I honestly don't check anymore.

My best advice is to paddle back to the parking area and meet them there at a predetermined time. It's not that far even if you are all the way on the other side of the lake.

I cannot attest to the reception on Lila but I have gotten Texts through at Lows Lake. The signal is pretty non existent but in 10 minutes my texts some how were delivered and received. Verizon.

The cell tower is on Mt Morris in Tupper, so anywhere you can see that from Lila you should have signal... Don't count on signal since atmospheric conditions vary and influence propagation. IIRC, there's both CDMA (verizon) and GSM (ATT) antennas - a lot depends on your handset also.

Plus, you do not want to have your phone on searching for signals constantly. Put it on airplane mode and have a designated time you wish to communicate or your battery will drain quickly searching for a signal, otherwise have a solar powered charger with you. .

i've been on canada island and had great cell phone reception. not sure about other places on lila...seems like coverage is spotty in the adirondacks...depending on location, even if it's just a campsite away.

texting uses less bandwith..hence they get thru easier than cell phone calls.
Or do what I do. Leave the dern thing at home.
